Smart Casual Clothes for Men on a Budget

December 24th, 2012

When money is tight, you don’t necessarily have to compromise on style or quality. If you have the time, do some research so that you can take advantage of some of the best offers and discounts available, helping your money to stretch as far as possible.

The first thing to do is set a realistic budget and stick to it as much as possible. If you’re looking for some new smart-casual clothes, like denim shirts think about what you really need and what you have in your wardrobe already. That will help you to make a list of the things you need to buy – and after doing an inventory of your current clothes, you might find you need less than you
think. Then just structure your search so that you’re looking for the best possible deals for the things you need.

For example, many retailers with an internet presence have a permanent Clearance or Sale section on their site, where you’ll find the items that are currently discounted. It’s always a good idea to keep looking at these pages because they will be updated with new offers and you’re bound to see something that falls within your budget. Some will offer straight discounts, which are valuable, whilst others will work on a bulk buying system – so buying one item gets you a second at half price.

You could also look for sets, which give you a smart casual look with a single purchase. The most obvious examples of this are the shirt and jumper combination, or polo shirt and fleece combination. These give you an upper and lower layer at a price that’s usually lower than buying both items together, saving you time and money. It’s also worth going to specialist stores – so retailers that deal just in casual clothing, or just in jeans, for example. The choice there will be greater than in a store that sells everything, and you are more likely to find some great deals.

If you need to update your wardrobe on a budget, now is a pretty good time to be doing it. Retailers are lowering prices and creating offers to encourage people to shop, and it’s the right time of the year for big sales and discounts. If you can plan ahead, make sure you’re only buying what you really need, and keeping to a realistic budget, you should be able to conjure up a good quality, good looking smart casual outfit without breaking the bank.
